If you care to hear a programme to a piece of music, NACHT & NEBEL tells the dark story of the capture of French Resistance hero Jean Moulin by the 'Nacht und Nebel' operation as the Nazi counter-resistance offensive in occupied territories in the Second World War was called. 'Nacht und Nebel' is a quotation from Wagner's 'Das Rheingold', and relates to the spell cast by the magic Tarnhelm,  a helmet forged by the dwarf Alberich in Nibelheim, which renders the wearer invisible, and the motif for which, somewhat disguised, ends the piece.
